There can be very few hotels in England to match the location of the Redcliffe Hotel.
Situated on a promontory dividing two sandy beaches, the Redcliffe boasts a 400 metre water
frontage, at sea level, in the very centre of the outstandingly beautiful Torbay, otherwise
known as "The English Riviera"
Views of the sea and coastline, from elegant Torquay on one side to the quaint fishing port
of Brixham on the other, can be enjoyed from all public rooms, many of the bedrooms and from our
large sun terrace. (For live pictures of these superb views please visit www.paigntonwebcam.com)
Traditional Service at The Redcliffe Hotel - Paignton
The building itself is totally unique. It was built as a private residence in 1856 by Colonel Robert
Smith who served with the Royal Bengal Engineers and styled his home with a distinct Indian theme. 'Redcliffe
Towers' was converted into an hotel in 1904 and original features still abound, creating an atmosphere of
luxury and elegance from a past era.
Privately owned and managed by the Twigger family since 1979, the Redcliffe does, however, now offer
every modern facility to ensure an enjoyable stay, whether for business or pleasure, short break or family
summer holiday. And the traditional standards of service and the quality of meals served ensure that our
customers return time and time again.
